Brad Hurley was born in 1990 and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee by a single mother of three. He was often kidnapped by his Masonic grandfather who spent most of his time traveling the roads of the United States for work, and by the age of five he had already visited all fifty states. These long travels on the road as a child throughout the early 90s is where his creativity was rooted. Hundreds of coloring books were filled and countless hours were spent admiring the ever changing landscape as his grandfather was storytelling throughout the drive. A self-taught musician and artist, he continued doing art as a way to escape the dark and suffocating culture of  poverty in Tennessee. His water, spacey-patterned paintings reveal the beauty of nature and the mysteries of the universe and dissect the corruptions and illusions of the modern world. After years of drifting in and out of the struggles of homelessness, he packed a single backpack with a few dollars to his name and moved to Northern California’s majestic Redwoods to study art full time under Camille Rose Garcia’s guidance. He also recently began training with Harbor Seals and California Sea Lions, as well as volunteering at the Northcoast Marine Mammal Center to help rehabilitate stranded California Sea Lion pups.
